This privacy policy explains how polyswiss.ch ("polyswiss", "we") processes personal data when you visit our website and use our service. We process personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP/revDSG) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Controller
The controller responsible for processing your personal data is the operator named in our Impressum. You can reach our data protection contact at privacy@polyswiss.ch.
Data we process
Account data: your email address, a securely hashed version of your password, and the time you accepted the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Activity data: your virtual coin balance, the predictions and trades you make, and the resulting ledger of virtual transactions. Technical data: your IP address, browser and device information, and server log data generated automatically when you use the site.
Purposes and legal basis
We process this data to create and manage your account, to operate the prediction market and calculate virtual payouts, to keep the service secure and prevent abuse, and to comply with our legal obligations. The processing is based on the performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in a secure and functioning service, and, where required, your consent.
Cookies and local storage
We use strictly necessary cookies: a session cookie ("ps_sid") that keeps you logged in and a language cookie ("ps_locale") that remembers your preferred language. These are required to operate the service and do not need consent. Advertising cookies are used only with your consent: when you first visit, a consent message from Google, the certified consent management platform of our advertising partner, asks for your choice. If you consent, Google may set cookies and use similar technologies to show, personalise and measure ads (see the section on advertising below). If you do not consent, no advertising cookies are set and no identifiers are stored on your device for advertising purposes; Google then shows only limited, non-personalised ads and may use strictly limited technical means solely to detect invalid traffic (fraud prevention). We do not build profiles for marketing ourselves.
Email communications
To verify your address and send service-related messages, we use a third-party email delivery provider acting as our processor. Your email address is shared with this provider solely to deliver these messages.
Recipients and processors
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers who process it to operate the service — in particular our hosting and email providers, which are bound by contract to process it only on our instructions — and with Google as our advertising partner, which processes data as described in the advertising section below: for personalised advertising only if you have consented, otherwise solely the technical data required to show limited, non-personalised ads.
Transfers abroad
Where a processor is located outside Switzerland or the EU/EEA, we ensure an adequate level of protection through appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or transfers to a country recognised as providing adequate protection.
Retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. The virtual transaction ledger is retained to preserve the integrity of the game. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data unless we are required to retain it by law.
Your rights
Subject to the conditions of applicable law, you have the right to access your personal data and to request its rectification, deletion or restriction, to object to certain processing, and to receive your data in a portable format. You may withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, where the GDPR applies, your local supervisory authority.
Data security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Passwords are stored only as cryptographic hashes and never in plain text.
Minors
polyswiss is a game and is not directed at young children. If you are a minor, please use the service only with the consent of your parent or legal guardian.
Changes to this policy

Advertising (Google AdSense)
We finance the free service through advertising delivered programmatically by Google AdSense, an advertising service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Whether advertising may use cookies is your choice, which Google's certified consent message collects on your first visit. If you consent, Google processes your IP address, information about your browser and device, and the pages you visit; sets advertising cookies; and may use this data to select, personalise and measure ads. If you do not consent, Google serves "limited ads": non-personalised ads selected solely from the context of the page, without cookies or other local identifiers being used to target or measure ads. Also for limited ads, Google receives the technical data your browser transmits with the ad request — in particular your IP address, the page address and basic browser information — and processes it to display the ad and to detect invalid traffic; we rely on our legitimate interest in financing the free service for this. Google may transfer data to servers outside Switzerland and the EU/EEA, including in the United States; transfers are protected by recognised safeguards such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.
