Will Swiss voters accept the Neutrality Initiative on 27 September 2026?
On 27 September 2026 Switzerland votes on the federal popular initiative «Safeguarding Swiss neutrality (neutrality initiative)», launched by Pro Schweiz / SVP circles, which would write a strict, comprehensive conception of permanent armed neutrality into the Federal Constitution (barring military alliances and most non-UN sanctions). A Swiss popular initiative is adopted only with a double majority: a majority of valid votes nationwide AND a majority of the cantons. Resolves YES if the initiative is accepted (both majorities reached); resolves NO if it is rejected. Settled from the official final result published by the Swiss Federal Chancellery (admin.ch / abstimmungen.admin.ch). The Federal Council and Parliament recommend rejection; an early-June 2026 Leewas/Tamedia poll of ~26,000 voters had 54% against and 34% in favour.
