Which party controls the U.S. House after the 2026 midterm elections?

All 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives are up for election on 3 November 2026, with 218 needed for a majority. Republicans currently hold a narrow majority; Democrats need a net gain of three seats to take control. This market resolves to the party that wins a governing majority of the House in the 2026 midterms and will organise the chamber for the 119th-to-120th Congress, as called by the Associated Press once control is determined. As of late July 2026, forecasters (Polymarket, Decision Desk HQ, Race to the WH) favour Democrats to flip the chamber, while historically the president's party loses House seats at the midterm.
